“Splash” of Olive Brine2
1/8 oz. (6 to 8 drops) Dry Vermouth – NOTE: this drink is easy to screw up by adding too much Vermouth, so we’ll make this “Optional”, however it is part of the drink.

Footnotes 👇
  1. Brine isn’t actually juice, though it is viewed as such by some. Shake or stir. I’m not getting involved in that argument.[]
  2. “Olive Juice” is the brine in the olive jar. Commercial Olive Brine is salt mixed with water and vinegar. However, if you want to brine your own (green) olives you need only water and salt (usually about 5 to 8 percent salt by weight) to pickle them, and then some patience to wait. It is said that homemade brined olives are much tastier and healthier than store bought ones.[]
  3. NOTE: Originally Gin was used, but as with the Vermouth, above – it’s one of those things. The wrong choice of Gin (no matter who’s fault, the customer’s or the bartender’s) and the drink will be returned.[]
