This was one of the first cocktails that used Smirnoff vodka as the base liquor. There’s a fascinating story of the origins of the Moscow Mule. 1

Footnotes 👇
- One of them was a businessman John Martin who bought Smirnoff vodka, one was a bar owner Jack Morgan who loved his home-brewed Cock n’ Bull ginger beer, and the third was a Russian immigrant who couldn’t sell her copper mug collection. These three joined forces and created a new American cocktail.[↩]
