The “Real Drinks of the Day” Survey
Every bartender knows how to make Martinis, Manhattans, Sours, Piña Coladas, etc., and for the drink orders customers give us where we don’t know the recipe we either ask them what’s in it, or we run to our favorite drink mixing guide. Mine is “The Bartender’s Black Book” by Stephen Kittredge Cunningham, but even that’s a 10th edition published on September 17, 2011 with none of the newest drinks since then – six years behind.
Both New and Many Experienced Bartenders Feel a Need To Memorize the Specialty Type Drinks People Order Today, Even if Ordered Much Less Frequently.
To get up to speed and become good as quickly as possible the NEW Bartender doesn’t need to memorize drinks from a book with close to or more than 3,000 drink recipes when effort would be much better spent memorizing the REAL DRINKS OF THE DAY, the drinks people are actually ordering today at REAL BARS across the country, maybe ordering less frequently, but drinks worth a bartender’s time to actually memorize.
PLEASE FILL OUT THE TWO FIELDS IN THE FORM BELOW. I’LL PUBLISH THE RESULTS AND GIVE CREDIT.
NOTE: This isn’t just “less frequently ordered” as in Green Chartreuse on the rocks, but about any new or unusual mixed drink or method that’s actually catching on, has caught on, is a hit in your bar (like Rainbow Jello Shots), or is just one of those drinks that you’ve been making for the past few years that people are only recently ordering.
